Reigate is a medieval market town with independent shops, pubs and restaurants, parkland and a regular run of local events, as Muddy Stilettos describes it. It has no Michelin stars, but it does have one of the more interesting Lebanese kitchens in the county, and a pub that has just been given a thorough overhaul. Here is where we would start.
Lebnani, Church Street
Lebnani is at 11 Church Street, in the town centre, and it is the reason to make the trip. Chef-founder Jad Youssef cooks, a Celebrity MasterChef UK alumnus originally from Beirut, and his wife Aga runs front of house. It opened in 2020.
Recognition has followed. It won its first AA Rosette in April 2025 and was upgraded to two in the June 2026 AA Guide update. Surrey Live reports that Condé Nast Traveller named it among Surrey's ten best restaurants, the only Lebanese entry, and singled out the smoky muhammara dip. Surrey Live also says it was recommended in Harden's Best UK Restaurants 2026.
What to order: start with hot and cold mezze: hummus, labné, falafel, tabbouleh, fattoush and smoky aubergine, with warm khobez bread. Then turn to the Al Mashwa charcoal grill for meats and vegetables, where shish taouk is a named dish. Shawarma is on the menu too, and a reviewer with an executive chef's background picked out the kibbeh and the mixed grill. There are vegan and gluten-free options, and the vegan mezze has had praise from a HappyCow reviewer.
Who it suits: sharing meals with friends or family, and vegetarians in particular. OpenTable lists it at £25 and under per head.
Good to know: it is small, with about 30 seats and an open kitchen, and reviewers say it can be noisy and is often fully booked. Book ahead online. The restaurant's own site gives opening as Tuesday to Saturday, 11:30am to 9:30pm, closed Sunday and Monday. Parking is on the street. Reigate station is a short walk away, about ten minutes, and Lebnani is roughly 45 minutes from London by train.
The Black Horse, West Street
The Black Horse, a Heartwood Inns pub on West Street, reopened on 3 June 2026 after a three-month closure. Surrey Live reports a £1.5m investment that brought a large extension, new interiors and a revamped garden.
Who it suits: dog-walkers and groups after a pub lunch. Dogs are welcome in the bar and garden. It is open Monday to Friday from 12pm to 11pm, Saturday from 11:30am to 11pm and Sunday from 11:30am to 10pm.
Where else to look
The wider Reigate scene is worth a wander once Lebnani is booked. Two places on the High Street are worth knowing about. Yaprak at 46 to 50 High Street serves Turkish and Mediterranean food, with mixed kebab, chicken shish and mezze among the dishes reviewers mention. It suits group dinners, and a lunchtime two-course deal at £12.95 has been cited by a reviewer. New Gurkha Kitchen at 75 High Street is a Nepalese and Indian restaurant open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and it also offers delivery and collection, which makes it a sensible choice for families.
For breakfast and brunch, Nisou at 53A Lesbourne Road is a family-run Greek Cypriot place, formerly Yia Yia's. Its breakfast menu includes Big Fat Greek Pancakes and house granola with Greek yoghurt, and reviewers praise the chicken souvlaki, whitebait and loukoumades. It is dog-friendly, which helps with a morning walk to the park.
A simple plan
A long lunch or dinner with friends: Lebnani, booked ahead.
A dog-friendly pub afternoon: the Black Horse.
Breakfast with the family: Nisou on Lesbourne Road.
A group dinner on the High Street: Yaprak.
