Most Surrey taprooms keep short hours. Nearly all are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and many open only from Thursday to Sunday, so plan around the weekend. Hours change, so check the brewery's own website before you set out.
Hogs Back Brewery Tap, Tongham
The largest independent brewery in Surrey, according to VisitSurrey, sits at Manor Farm, The Street, Tongham, between Farnham and Guildford. The Brewery Tap is in the old hop-drying kiln, and a refurbishment that reopened it in February 2025 added a bigger bar built on recycled beer casks.
It is normally open Wednesday to Sunday: the bar runs 9am to 10:30pm Wednesday to Saturday, and 10am to 5:30pm on Sunday. Food includes brunch, pizza from Thursday to Saturday, and a £15 pizza-and-beer or burger-and-beer deal on Wednesday evenings. Beer comes straight from the cellar, including in reusable glass flagons the brewery calls Snorters.
Order: the draught line-up includes TEA (Traditional English Ale), Surrey Nirvana Session IPA, Hogstar Lager and Hog IPA. Surrey Live describes a big lawn with picnic tables overlooking the hop fields, with dogs and children welcome. It suits families and long afternoons. Details are on the Hogs Back website.
Pilgrim Brewery Taproom, Reigate
At 11 West Street, in a yard off the A25, Pilgrim is described by CAMRA as the oldest brewery in Surrey, on this site since 1984. The taproom is in the former ground-floor offices and has a garden overlooking Reigate Priory cricket ground. Reigate station is a short walk away.
East and Mid Surrey CAMRA lists it as closed Monday and Tuesday, open from 5pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and from noon on Saturday and Sunday. CAMRA's listing says there are usually four or five cask and six keg Pilgrim beers, and it is dog-friendly with a 10% CAMRA discount.
Order: Pilgrim Progress or Pilgrim Surrey, the regular beers. It suits an after-work pint or a train-friendly Saturday. See the CAMRA listing.
Dorking Brewery, Capel
The Tap & Gun is at Aldhurst Farm, Temple Lane, Capel, near Dorking. The brewery has brewed since 2008 and moved to Capel in 2018, and the taproom opened in 2021. VisitSurrey says it makes over 20,000 pints a week and is carbon-negative. Its beers other than the best bitter DB One are unfined, so they are hazy and vegan-friendly.
The brewery lists the taproom as open Thursday and Friday from 10am to 11pm and Saturday from 11am to 11pm, closed Sunday to Wednesday. A smokehouse BBQ of burgers, wings and fries runs on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. Tours start from £15 a head. Other local listings give slightly different hours, so check first. Order: DB One, the best bitter, then ask what is on. More on the taproom and tours page.
Surrey Hills Brewery, Dorking
This is more brewery shop than taproom. At Denbies Wine Estate, London Road, Dorking, it is open Monday to Wednesday 10am to 3pm and Thursday to Saturday 10am to 5pm, closed Sunday. CAMRA says cask ale can be bought to drink on site or take away. The brewery began near Shere in 2005 and moved to Dorking in 2011.
Order: Shere Drop, a 4.2% session pale ale, or Ranmore. A £15 tour runs on select Saturdays. It suits a stop on a Denbies day out. See the brewery's site.
Farnham Brewing Company Taproom, Frensham
Pierrepont Farm, Reeds Road, Frensham, is a working farm in the Surrey Hills. The taproom is in a restored 17th-century building, once a wheelwright's and later part of a dairy. Farnham Brewing took over the site in May 2023.
It opens Friday 4pm to 9pm, Saturday 11am to 9pm and Sunday 11am to 7pm, with parking and regular food trucks. Walkers and cyclists are welcome. Order: FBC Pale, plus a changing beer, according to CAMRA. Details at Farnham Brewing.
Titsey Brewing Co Taproom, Tatsfield
Clarks Lane Farm, Clarks Lane, Tatsfield, is in Tandridge district, on the Surrey and Kent border, at the highest point of the North Downs Way. The taproom opened to the public in June 2023. Craig Vroom founded the brewery in 2017.
CAMRA, surveying in February 2026, lists Thursday to Saturday 9:30am to 9pm and Sunday 9:30am to 7pm, closed Monday to Wednesday, with a kitchen in sessions Thursday to Sunday. Dogs are welcome and there is brunch. Order: Gower Wolf bitter, Gresham Hopper pale ale, Leveson Buck IPA or Innes Lager. See the CAMRA listing.
