Choosing a Surrey wedding venue comes down to a few practical questions: how many guests, what kind of ceremony, and whether you want a hire fee or an all-in package. Here are three places that answer those questions in quite different ways, with the figures published for each. Prices are guides, usually "from" or weekday figures, so ask each venue for a quote for your date.
Farnham Castle, Farnham: for a church ceremony and exclusive use
Farnham Castle sits above the market town in five acres of grounds, on the Surrey and Hampshire border. SquareMeal names it Surrey's best castle and best exclusive-use venue. Couples have the whole place to themselves, with numbers ranging from around 30 guests to more than 250.
What sets it apart is the choice of ceremony spaces. There are two on-site chapels, both Church of England: the Norman Chapel seats 80 to 90 and the Bishop's Chapel up to 60. Other options include the Lantern Hall, the Winchester Suite, the Library and the East Lawn, which overlooks a White Rose Garden.
Celebrations take place in the Great Hall, which seats 230 for dinner and up to 350 for evening dancing, with drinks on the Great Lawn. There are 33 en-suite bedrooms. External caterers are not permitted, so food is in-house.
On cost, the published figures differ by source. Venue hire is quoted from about £4,000 to £5,700, and a full wedding costs considerably more. The castle's own site lists wedding open evenings on Wednesday 11 November and Monday 7 December, from 6pm to 9pm, which is a sensible way to see the Great Hall before you commit.
It suits couples who want a traditional church service and a single, private venue for the whole day.
Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking: for vineyard views and a package
Denbies, on London Road in Dorking, describes itself as England's largest wine estate, with 265 acres of vines below the Surrey Hills. SquareMeal picks it for both best countryside and best outdoor venue. It has five distinct spaces for 40 to 250 guests.
Capacities listed by Visit South East England include the Cellars at 120, the Conservatory at 200 and the Gallery Restaurant at 50 for a banquet. The Vineyard Hotel has 17 en-suite bedrooms, which can be used exclusively around the wedding.
Ceremonies can be civil, humanist or celebrant-led, outdoors if you prefer, and the estate offers Indian wedding packages too. Its Surrey Wedding Package covers hire of the Conservatory Atrium, Garden Room and Courtyard, a complimentary menu tasting, estate sparkling wine or elderflower on arrival, a three-course meal, half a bottle of wine per person and a wedding-night room for the couple.
Guides for Brides gives venue costs of £5,000 to £9,500, while Bridebook puts it at £80 to £220 per head. The estate's own site advertises up to 20% off 2026 packages, with a limited number of dates left. Order the estate sparkling wine, and ask about the tastings and tours for guests arriving the day before.
It suits couples who want the setting to do most of the work and like the idea of one price covering food and wine.
Pennyhill Park, Bagshot: for a country hotel weekend
Pennyhill Park on London Road, Bagshot, is a country hotel with 123 acres, 124 bedrooms and a spa, part of the family-owned Exclusive Collection. Coco gives wedding prices from £17,850, based on a weekday in December and including accommodation, food and drink.
The ceremony capacity is 120 seated or 150 standing, and the licence runs until midnight. The package includes exclusive use of the Terrace Wing, taking in the Lily Pond Terrace, the Pavilion and the Library, though not the whole hotel. SquareMeal also notes a Gold Award from its own reviewer for dining.
The hotel's site lists a Winter Wedding Open Day on Sunday 15 November, from 11am to 3pm.
It suits couples planning a weekend for a hundred or so guests who would rather have rooms, dining and a spa in one place.
Other Surrey options worth a look
The Red Barn, Blindley Heath, Lingfield. A converted barn with a gastropub attached, for about 120 guests. SquareMeal names it best barn venue. The food is seasonal British, with a wine list of around 60 bins. Pricing was not available, so ask directly.
Clandon Regis Golf Club, near Guildford. 170 acres of parkland and a lake, with up to 150 guests and in-house wedding coordination. Bridebook quotes £4,600 to £5,025, and the dining room holds 90 for a sit-down breakfast.
